Project Background

Silver Mine Bay is a popular bathing beach in Mui Wo, Lantau. During holidays, people enjoy around Mui Wo for sightseeing. As the Wang Tone Bridge (Old Bridge) is only about 1.5m wide, overcrowding problem occurs and pedestrians and cyclists are often crossing the bridge shoulder to shoulder. After its service for over 40 years, its condition is in general poor. Therefore, a new twin bridge was proposed to replace the existing Wang Tong River Bridge in Mui Wo to enhance road safety by widening the river crossing and segregating pedestrians from cyclists.
